CALL or EMAIL YOUR STATE SENATOR AND REPRESENTATIVE TODAY AND ASK THEM
TO SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING BILLS:
The “Freedom of Choice” bill (HB1283/SB1511) for Tennessee motorcyclists
has advanced out of the Senate Transportation committee, assigned to
Calendar and Rules Committee and will be scheduled for a floor vote very
soon.
Right of Way Violations causing serious injury and death are going to
get more expensive as
HB1335/SB0794
has passed the first two tests in the
House.
There was no opposition in Public Safety and Rural Roads subcommittee or
the full Transportation committee. The bill passed the budget
subcommittee on March 28th and will be heard by the Finance Ways and
Means Committee on April 3rd. The bill has been assigned to the Senate
Transportation Committee for April 4th.
Tennessee motorcyclists’ calls and emails have been effective in
stopping the “No Kids Under 12” bill (HB1536/SB101) and it appears this legislation is
dead for 2007.
BILLS WE ARE WATCHING!
Another bill that was passed by the House on March 29th is the “Wheelie
Bill”
HB0201/SB0550. The Bill will make “intentionally driving with one wheel off the
ground” now moves to the Senate.
For those concerned with
HB0481 ($16 additional registration fee on all
vehicles) I have spoken with the House Sponsor, Representative Harmon,
and he stated the bill is “going nowhere”.
