May as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month HJR0780 by Rep. Matheny  We supported this proclamation that was used to ask the public to watch out for us and to please quit running over us with their cars, trucks and mini-vans.  This proclamation passed both houses unanimously.

Child Passengers SB0101 by Sen. Birchett  We opposed this bill, which would have made it illegal to take children under 12 years of age for a ride.  The bill did not pass.

Helmet Bill HB1283/SB1511 by Reps. Todd, Harwell, McDaniel, Brooks H, Moore, Casada, Harrison, Watson, Tidwell, Montgomery, Bibb, McCord, Matheny, DuBois and Senators Burchett, Henry, Beavers  We supported this bill, which would have given to riders 21 years of age or older, the choice of whether or not to wear a helmet.  This bill was stalled in the Budget sub-committee.

Right of Way SB0794 by Senators Burchett, Marrero B, Kilby, Finney R  We passed this bill, which provides stiffer penalties for accidents caused by certain right of way violations.
